Contracts are one of the most important aspects that defines the Contractor race. It is a highly condensed ball of Mana that contains the characteristics of a person's soul and unique to every person. When a Contractor is made, their soul moves out of the body to be stored safely in the Contract Records while a clone substitute, a Contract forms in it's place. The Contract is the bridge that links the Contractor to their soul within the Contract Records and allows them to access the information library within it. Since the Contract is a clone substitute of the Contractor's soul, they are one and the same, destroying a Contract will destroy the Contractor's actual soul as well. If one were to try and mind swap with a Contractor, it still can happen, but the Contract will eventually override the intruders mind with the original mind of it's owner causing the intruder's mind to be lost to oblivion forever, while at the same time the Contractor's mind that was swapped away would fade as if the mind swap never happened, leaving the intruder's physical body to become a brain dead person. It is also because of the Contract taking the place of a Contractor's soul that their soul cannot be swapped out or captured, for there is no soul residing in the Contractor's body only thing there is its placeholder, the Contract.

Contracts by default do not take on physical form and is situated in a pocket dimension in the throat area of a Contractor, thus it is not visible or extractable though normal means, killing the Contractor and ripping out their throats will not make them drop their Contracts either. It is also possible for the Contract to form in other places on the Contractor other than the throat area due to special circumstances during the turning of a person into a Contractor, this is still a rare occurrence though since the three Contractor Guilds had standardized the turning process.

The only time when a Contract gains physical form as shown in the picture, is when it is subjected to a certain type of extraction spell, this spell however is not well known, only a few know of it and even fewer who can actually cast it, only Contract Eaters seem to have the passive skill to forcefully manifest the Contract into its physical form. If a Contract has been extracted from a Contractor, the Contractor's body will shatter into pieces immediately, causing them death in a physical sense. They are however, still very much alive as the Mana in their Contracts keeps their soul alive in the Contract Records, they will remain alive till the Mana in their Contracts expires. Once all the Mana is used up, the Contract will dissipate and the Contractor's soul would be released from the Contract Records and back into the normal flow of the world. There is no way to replenish the Mana of a Contract that has been taken out of it's original body for each Contract is unique and only the Mana made from the original's body is compatible with it.

The physical manifestation of a Contract resembles a golf ball sized transparent sphere with an intangible circle of text hovering around the middle, however it is easy to over look the sphere's transparency due to the white glowing center that causes the Contract to give off the impression of a white sphere instead. The circling text is depicted in Old Contractor language and is translated as 'Thy clock has stopped, but the show hasn’t ended, thy dream shall continue as debts recorded' followed by the Contractor's name. The physical surface and texture of the sphere feels like smooth glass or marble but is much less fragile than it in terms of durability.

There are ways to damage a Contract depending on what form it is in. If it isn't in physical form, the Contractor disease known as "The Halt" can damage it by forcefully draining out the Mana in the Contract. Like wise in both physical or non physical forms, if a Contractor's Mana was forcefully pulled out of them or their Contracts, it will cause damage to the Contract. A special case of if the Contract is in physical form, it can get damaged if it was subjected to immense physical force like it was dropped onto a hard surface from a really high place.

A damaged Contract would cause the Contractor to lose certain body functions or gain inabilities, such as but not limited to: loss of speech, sight or hearing abilities, decreased or total inability to use limbs, amnesia, or severe inability to remember new information. The more damaged the Contract the more inabilities the Contractor will suffer from. These effects are only temporary if the Contractor is allowed to recover, Contracts would eventually mend themselves over time with Mana produced by their respective Contractors as long as they are attached to them, like any wound, the more damaged it was the longer it will take to mend itself.  

In physical form, a damaged Contract would have glowing red crystalline cracks running along it's surface and even seem to have parts chipped off if it was damaged enough. These cracks and chips seem to be superficial or at least only visible from the front as one couldn't see them if one were to look at them though the transparent parts of the sphere. Interesting effect, if a Contractor with a damaged Contract were to enter the Contract Records or if one were to see a Contractor with a damaged Contract in the Records, their visible souls would have the same crystalline cracks and chips running along them and even sporting broken off or missing limbs at times.
